September Twitter Rankings Update for Indianapolis Sports Media

imagesIt’s the last day of the month, so it’s time to update the Twitter rankings for the Indianapolis media.  You can either embrace Twitter as a way to immediately communicate directly with a limitless number of media consumers or not.  With every opportunity that passes to build a brand, the value of that brand recedes.

Tweeting is easy, instant, and engaging.  If people in the media get tired of communicating directly with listeners, viewers, and readers, they should sell insurance.

Kent Sterling led all media types with a 12.9% gain, which more than doubled the next most aggressive gainer in the radio division.  WISH-TV’s Anthony Calhoun led the TV talent with a 6.8% gain.  As you might expect, one of the two Indianapolis Star’s Colts beat reporters, Mike Chappell rides his seasonal Colts to a 7.4% positive move to lead the print group.

We added a digital section which will grow as I find more people writing about Indianapolis sports, but Ken Bikoff led that group with a modest 2.9%.

Some see Twitter as a necessary evil, and other as a fun diversion – something to do during games that allows direct two-way communication.  Isn’t that why we got into this business in the first place?  What it really allows is brand building with enthusiastic media consumers.
