If there was any doubt of the Pacers to do whatever is possible to win an NBA Championship in 2014, it’s gone.

The Pacers have moved their chips to the middle of the table, and Pacers President Larry Bird doesn’t bluff.

This morning, the Pacers announced the signing of mercurial center Andrew Bynum, who has shown himself to be capable of both all-star level basketball and self-immersed and churlish behavior.

The Cleveland Cavaliers dealt Bynum’s contract to the Chicago Bulls three weeks ago, and he has been sitting since.

Bird has not been sitting.  He’s not hoping that the Pacers can continue to play well enough to post the best record in the NBA; he’s continuing to pursue talent where it is.
