Indianapolis Sports Media Twitter Rankings for March – Indy Star Builds Better Than Anyone

twitterPrint may be dying, but the content produced by the Indianapolis Star certainly isn’t.  The way the Twitter followers of the Star staff grew in March, maybe the death of the ink stained wretches can be forestalled for a good long while.

Media is about providing unique content, and by using Twitter to convey it, the number of followers goes up.  Take it seriously, and a serious number of people with whom to communicate to be gathered.  It’s not just a one way street either.  Very quick conversations can take place, and connections built that just a few years ago required a typewriter and stamp.

Those who thought print would vanish quickly refused to account for the reason that people consume media.  It’s not the conduit – whether newspaper, radio, TV, magazine, or smoke signals – it’s content, and people will find the information or perspective they want.

Mark Ambrogi, Stephen Holder, and Candace Buckner made great gains this month, and should be congratulated.

It’s not about where anymore, but what and how.  The playing field is changing, but the game is the same.  Those who embrace it will thrive, and those who scoff will be passed by.

Kind of an exciting time to be in media, isn’t it?
