Indiana Basketball – Quotes from Tom Crean, Stanford Robinson, and Yogi Ferrell about the arrests

Tom Crean

“We are aware of the two infractions with a couple of the guys on our team.  One of our big problems on the court this year was solid decision making, which directly mirrors our lack of decision making off the court.  We had too many players that had a maturity problem all year and that maturity has not grown yet to where it needs to be.  This isn’t about a time of year or a special week on campus.  This is about poor judgment, selfishness of actions, and disrespect for what this program stands for.  We will continue as we have all year to push the responsibility of what it means to play in this basketball program and to represent yourself beyond reproach.  We have been successful in doing that in the past and will continue to demand those same principles.”

Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell

“I apologize for letting down my family, coaches, teammates and fans and truly regret the mistake I made.  This is something I have to learn from, use better judgement and I have a responsibility as a leader on this team to make sure nothing like this happens again.”

Stanford Robinson

“I’m very sorry for my actions.  I know I have embarrassed my family and this program and have let a lot of people down. I have no excuses for the mistakes I made and I take full responsibility for them.”

Yogi declares for the NBA draft and goes in the 43rd round to the Syracuse Nationals.

Sadly, the first I heard of Tim Priller was when he committed. I have nothing resembling unique insight on him. You can’t teach 6’9″. About the rest, fans will hope for the best. Josh Cunningham is announcing his commitment to Bradley, Indiana, or South Carolina tomorrow.

tim priller is not an athlete and has a slow painful release. peter jurkin is I believe 7 feet. you cant teach that either. and we all know how valuable his contributions have been. idont want to be so negative but kent youre trying to hard to be positive. I truly believe that next year Indiana will be playing much better basketball. much better. but then what? look at what is piling up on the bench. and Johnson was a helluva recruiter. rick pitino makes me violently ill but that human turd knows talent and their is a reason Johnson left. it wasn’t to chase money. it was for a better deal. is crean going to start running players off again? we all know he has been. and in a couple years he will be a has been. im guessing you call tom crean a friend. but if you didn’t know tom crean and only viewed him as a coach and not a person my guess is you might be a little less perpetually positive and a little more realistic. I don’t mean to put you on the spot. but unless you start spouting some reality people are going to question your journalistic integrity. I don’t expect you to hammer on the eighteen year old kids that are signing. but let it out. you don’t even have name names. but tell us whats really going on with this program. we allknow. we just want to hear the sponsor of this message board say it.

I am negative when I know it is appropriate. In the absence of that knowledge, I allow the benefit of the doubt. My hopes for Priller have nothing to do with Crean, but are a result of my ignorance of Priller as a player.

These are becoming some dark days for the Hoosiers. I’ve been a fan since I can remember. I pray every night that somehow this will be turned around but even I have given up hope. I love tom crean, but I sadly don’t see it getting any better.
